Believe In Yourself - My Year In Review

Year in Review

“I am thankful for the nights that turned into mornings, friends that turned into family and dreams that turned into reality”

Reading this quote felt real to me and pretty much sums up my year. I never really seem to get the time to blog too much and prefer to post things as they happen so that I can always remain 100% honest with what’s going on in my life. After all, if I was sat at a computer all day writing blogs you might begin to question just what time I had to do all the things I say I am doing? So for this reason, having found a bit of time to look back, I wanted to write a “year in review” and share some of my favourite experiences in a blog type post. Scrolling through my instagram I realised it was a lot harder than I thought as every photo has a special meaning, but I hope you enjoy the moments I have chosen:

JANUARY

Working on a “Winter” edit was a lot of fun! This was my first real video edit and hopefully gave a bit of inspiration to get out there and surf some Winter swell.

FEBRUARY

The Protest Team Trip to Fuerteventura was pretty much what February was all about. Getting to meet and spend some time with my Protest family was an epic way to spend my 18th Birthday. –

MARCH

Having worked as a volunteer with The Wave Project for the last two years, I was very excited when they asked me to become an Ambassador for their Charity. I’m really looking forward to working a lot closer with them in 2017 and changing more lives through surfing.

APRIL

Modelling assignments that involve surfing are few and far between, so when I got asked to work with Visit Britain on a series of photos and lifestyle images at Surf Snowdonia, I couldn’t believe my luck!

MAY

Having worked hard on building a modelling portfolio over the past two years, it was a massive privilege to sign with Mustard Models in Bristol.

JUNE

Qualifying as an ISA Surf Judge and working with Surfing GB and the UK Pro Surf Tour is a great way for me to be part of some of the amazing events and competitions that are held for UK Surfers around Great Britain.

JULY

Saunton Sands saw the first ever Protest Women’s Surf Day! Blessed with a beautiful sunny weather and great surf, over 150 women and girls turned up to catch some waves and make new friends!

AUGUST

What can I say, August is all about Boardmasters!

SEPTEMBER

Working on my Summer edit and seeing the end result was a lot of fun!

OCTOBER

The film “Night Rose” was released. This was a short film put together by Harry Anscombe which told the story of “Rose” an elderly lady who dreams of being able to surf one last time. I was so excited to play the young Rose and night surf on a illuminated surf board!

NOVEMBER

A family surfing trip to Barbados didn’t produce many waves, but we did get to swim with some turtles!

DECEMBER

I think December is definitely coming close as the absolute highlight of my year. Having worked all Summer coaching, I decided that I wanted to invest a bit of time in my own surfing and decided to go for 3 weeks to the beautiful island of Fuerteventura to take part in an intensive surf coaching holiday, where I was looking to improve my technique and feel more confident about surfing bigger waves. I can’t tell you what an amazing time I had just in words, but it was everything I dreamt it would be. I have learnt so much, made so many friends and basically had the time of my life.

So, I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Protest SportswearAdams Surfboards and Northcore Surf who have been a big part of my journey this year and wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year!
